My Life Story: A Journey of Faith, Perseverance, and Hope

My name is Cristian, and I am currently 23 years old. Looking back, I can honestly say that my life has not been easy, but every stage has been filled with purpose, valuable lessons, and people whom God placed in my path to help shape me into the person I am today.

My story began when I was only six months old. My mother was facing an incredibly difficult situation after the death of my father. Along with the deep pain of that loss, she had to struggle through financial hardship while caring for my brother, Fernando, and me, both of whom were still babies. Eventually, because of limited resources and opportunities, she could no longer provide everything we needed.

It was then that God worked in a wonderful way through two very special people in my life: my grandmother, Georgia, and my grandfather, Santiago. Although they were not my biological parents, I have always considered them my true parents at heart. They took the noble initiative of opening the doors of New Life Children’s Home, a place that became not only my home but also the place where I learned the values and principles that would shape my life forever.

From a very young age, I grew up surrounded by love, care, and hope. At the children’s home, I found a large family. I shared my childhood with many boys and girls who, like me, longed for a brighter future. Together we experienced unforgettable moments—games, laughter, learning, challenges, and memories that I will always cherish. Every experience helped shape my character and taught me the value of friendship, respect, and compassion.

One of the greatest gifts I received at New Life Children’s Home was learning principles and values founded on faith in God. From childhood, I learned that regardless of the circumstances, I should always trust Him, remain grateful, and pursue my dreams with humility and perseverance. Those principles became the foundation of my life and continue to guide every decision I make today.

As the years passed, I grew not only in age but also through the many people who left a lasting impact on my life. Among them were Aunt Annette, Uncle Ron, Joe, and Cristy, who devoted much of their time and love to the well-being of every child at the foundation. They were not only directors of the children’s home; they also became parental figures to me. Through their example, I learned the meaning of service, responsibility, love for others, and the importance of never ceasing to trust in God. To this day, I remain deeply grateful for everything they have done—and continue to do—for so many lives.

I also had the privilege of knowing Martín and Ms. Dulce, who generously gave their time, knowledge, and affection to the foundation. They were always attentive to each of us, offering encouragement, support, and motivation to do our best every day. Their dedication taught me that a word of encouragement or a simple act of kindness can change a person’s life. Because of all these teachings, I developed the qualities that define me today. I consider myself kind, helpful, observant, compassionate, responsible, and cheerful. These values were instilled in me both at the children’s home and in school, where I was always taught to respect others, work with integrity, and give my very best in every situation.

From an early age, I discovered that I loved learning. I always viewed education as the greatest tool for changing my future and achieving my goals. For that reason, I worked diligently throughout every stage of my education until I successfully completed high school. That was a very special milestone because it marked the beginning of a new challenge: entering college. Being accepted into the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), the country’s premier university, was one of my greatest childhood dreams. The journey was not easy. At first, I faced new responsibilities, challenges, and moments of uncertainty. Yet I never forgot what I had learned at New Life Children’s Home: that hard work, discipline, and faith always bear fruit.

During my university years, I met many people, built new friendships, and gained knowledge that broadened my perspective of the world. Little by little, I came to understand how society functions and discovered the professional path I wanted to pursue. I decided to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Customs Administration, a field that captured my interest because of its vital role in international trade and the economic development of nations. I learned that

Customs administrations play a fundamental role in regulating imports and exports, facilitating the movement of goods, and contributing to economic growth. The more I learned about this profession, the more convinced I became that I had chosen the right path. After years of hard work, sacrifice, sleepless nights, and perseverance, one of the most anticipated moments of my life finally arrived: I graduated from the university. That degree represented far more than an academic achievement; it symbolized the fulfillment of a dream that began when I was just a baby who arrived at New Life Children’s Home, unaware of all that God had prepared for my life and for the lives of my fellow children.

Shortly afterward, I had the opportunity to enter the workforce. A new chapter began, filled with responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities to apply everything I had learned throughout my academic and personal journey.  I realized that every lesson I had received at the children’s home, in school, and at the university had prepared me to face the real world with integrity, responsibility, and commitment.

Today, I can confidently say that none of my accomplishments would have been possible without God’s help and without the many people who, through their love and generosity, chose to support New Life Children’s Home. Every donation, every prayer, every piece of advice, and every act of kindness made it possible for many children—including me—to dream of a better future.

My story is a testimony that where a person begins in life does not determine how far they can go. With faith, hard work, education, and the support of those who believe in us, dreams truly can become reality. As I look toward the future, I carry a deep desire in my heart. If God blesses me with good health, a thriving family, and continued opportunities to grow professionally, I want to give back a small portion of everything that was once given to me. I want to help children, young people, and those facing difficult circumstances because I know what it means to receive a helping hand when it is needed most. I want to be a blessing to others, just as so many people have been a blessing to me.

I will never forget my roots or the lessons I received. New Life Children’s Home will always be part of my story and will forever hold a very special place in my heart. Everything I experienced taught me that difficulties are not the end of the journey but rather the beginning of a story of triumph when we walk hand in hand with God.

Today I look back with gratitude, live the present with responsibility, and face the future with hope. My story is only beginning, and I fully trust that God will continue to guide every step I take.  Thank you, God. Thank you, New Life Children’s Home. And thank you to every person who made it possible for my story to become a story of hope, perseverance, and love.                  Christian
