About Honduras
Honduras is a small Central American country, nestled between Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. It borders the Caribbean Sea on the north coast and Pacific Ocean on the south. It is a beautiful country filled with awesome mountainous national parks, beaches and many beautiful waterfalls. Honduras population is around 10 million people with an area slightly larger than Tennessee. The landmass consists of mostly moderate climate mountainous area in the interior and narrow coastal plains with subtropical weather in the lowlands. It is a poor country but with many natural resources.
Jalaca
Jalaca is a colorful little valley community surrounded by mountains and filled with pine trees and creeks. The inhabitants largely are farmers and cattle ranchers. The population is around 800 with 75 homes, and it is the center of health and education for five smaller communities: Ocotal, La Cuesta, Jalaca Abajo, Los Pastos and La Chorrera.
On Campus
New Life has an area of 29 acres that include buildings, farm land, pastures and fish ponds. The campus has a boys home, girls home, storage/carpenter shop building, large auditorium, kitchen, elementary school building, large two story main school/office structure, mission home, parking garage, administrator housing and more.
Teams
Teams have been an essential part of New Life’s growth and success through many building projects: including auditorium, housing, kitchen, storage units and more.
Mission House
The Mission house is where we host teams that come to help with projects and outreaches. These teams are of great value to New Life in pushing ahead on needed projects, as well as sowing love and healthy family into the lives of our children and staff.
The mission house has two dorm rooms with separate bathrooms with hot water that house 6 people per room. There is an adequate living room and kitchen area where meals are made for the team, as well as storage rooms and living area for the directors. Washer and dryer facilities are available also.
